James Cameron (director of Aliens, Terminator 1&2, The Abyss and Titanic) has released the latest trailer for Avatar that dropped last week.
Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) is a paraplegic war veteran is sent to Pandora, a distant extraterrestrial moon that is inhabited by a sentient humanoid race known as the Na’vi. It is on this moon that Jake is given the chance to fight for the army through a genetically bred Na’vi avatar that is directly controlled by Jake through mind transference technology. The film also stars The film also stars Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez.
Avatar is filmed using performance-capture stage, called The Volume, which is six times larger than previously used and an improved method of capturing facial expressions. The tool is a small individually made skull cap with a tiny camera attached to it, located in front of the actors’ face which collects information about their facial expressions and eyes, which is then transmitted to the computers. Using this method Cameron is able to transfer about 95% of the actors’ performances to their digital counterparts.
The film is also shot in 3D and will be screening on IMAX screens across the world and is Due out on December 18th, you can also check out the trailer in its full gloroius HD here.
