Well today is the day where the Android operating system takes centre stage as Google announce what’s in store for software the coming year from its Mountain View HQ in California.
It’s no secret that this will be the first official outing of the Nexus One but there may be more to it so lets see what we can find out.

Jason Chen Editor of Gizmodo mentions:
One thing you might not know, that I heard from OEMs, is that Google will only certify devices for “Android” if it’s a phone, so other devices like the Nook won’t get Android certification, so it won’t be able to say that it’s an Android device. This means that they can’t get Android applications, and they don’t get access to some secret libraries that Google only limits for devices that are certified.

Speak the name of a store, the phone is performing a google search, using geolocation finds the nearest store, then using the turn-by-turn navigation app (introduced on Droid) it send you there so voice activation in all the boxes, not just search

A whole array of carriers are signed up and other handsets including Motorola! Vodafone confirmed as suppliers to Europe..
